I just purchased a Philips dvdr 880 recorder that is connected to a 503MXE via a Syncblaster cable (scart->15 pin din).

Most films work fine, but on a few films the image jitters.

I saw a similar posting that stated that early syncblaster cables could not handle certain forms of macrovision, but how wide spread is the problem?

I emailed Keene who chose to ignore my email, therefore before I battle with them over the phone, is there a simple fix?.

No simple fix, simply that synchblaster is not always up to the job. You've tried with and without the power supply? I've used exaxtly that setup but with a JS rgb-vga converter, and had no trouble.

Tried with and without power supply, no difference. :(

If there is no fix, then I may just dump it and buy a JS box...

It's what I'd recommend on experience. BTW does the plasma have time in these picture glitches to pop up a message, like 'Out of range', or similar?

Yep. When there is a picture fade-out or no picture displayed, I get a complete loss of sync (i.e I get a message)...

Then the synchblaster is not coping with the vagaries of scart from the dvdr. Better and more expensive converters are better at this. I have installed a DVDR880 with a JS vga converter without such troubles. It could be the rgb signal from the scart is not that good, I've heard of this trouble with synchblaster before, though I used to have one at home that was hassle free.
