Does anyone know if it makes any difference if I switch off from the remote or from the set? I know it did on my CRT because the remote just put the set into standby, is this true of LCDs? My instinct is that the set switch and the remote switch do exactly the same thing to my LCD.

That's the case with the Samsung anyway, the only way to switch it off is at the mains, the button on the TV and the remote only put it into standby.

Weird, because on my CRT, the button on the remote put the TV into standby but the button on the TV switched it off.

You're right, it's weird! Seems strange having to switch off at the mains.
