Switching off a Panny DMR EH50?

Hi, I have a Panny DMR EH50, with HD, should I switch it off completely at night (other than if I have set it too record something) or leave it on always, I only ask as I had it permanently on during Wimbledon to record and then I switched it off after 2 weeks of being on constantly and it wouldn't go on the next day, so it had to be fixed and it needed a new power supply, it was only 6 months old.

I switch off all my electronic equipment when not in use. Have five pvr's, 3 STB's and four Panasonic Dvd recorders - the oldest DMR-E85H now well over two years old. None of my gear has ever failed to date.

Thanks, I had been turning it off every night unril I was taping during the day everyday, none of my electrical itens have ever failed either, until they were really old. I only asked as the video used to be left on all the time as well as STB's, was just wondering wether it was different with having a HD.
