Switched box and now no picture from RF Out

Help Please,

I have had some problems with my didgibox so I switched it with an old Amstrad box. Sure enough, fantastic picture. BUT, when I turned my TV on upstairs which is running off a cable from the RF out, there is no picture just lots of fuzz.

Someone told me there was a code you have to put in to get additional menus to enable the RF to send a picture on old boxes or ones that have not been used for a while. Is this true?

Does anyone else have a solution to this problem. I'm pretty sure the cable is still fine.
