I want one. I'm not sure why, but I want one.

Liking it having a proper d-pad.

      Which colour though...

Hmm was gonna get one to replace my current unit but its a bit too lite... Could be good for travel but with only extra half hour battery doesn't seem worth it just because its a bit smaller..but knowing me and shiny new things and not really needing them, may get one if i see a cheap deal :p

Finally, that's the one I wanted. Never bought the Switch as I always felt it was too big for portable use and I don't care plugging it in to the TV, but as a next-gen 3DS/Vita replacement, this looks great.

For some reason I really want that Pokemon version!
Won’t buy though, I’m still holding out hope for a large screened Switch. :/

Just need them to announce "Switch Pro" now and see if an upgrade is in order

I can see its uses, multiplay if you already have a Swicth in the household.

It seems a bit pricey though when you consider a normal switch comes with a dock (£80), so the lite is basically the same price as a full Switch. I would get one at ~£150 but £200 is too much.

Not bad - targeted more to a certain market I’d say such as those that dont or wont use the docking feature

Wouldn’t be for me and happy enough sticking with my Switch - which I rarely use and need to use more!

I'm in, my existing Switch is permanently docked so this purchase would make sense for me.
What's the situation with digital games, would I be able to download all my game again for the Switch Lite assuming I use the same Nintendo account?

I wonder if Mario Odyssey will keep banging on about detaching the joy cons with this????

Personally I wouldn't like to play Mario Odyssey without detaching the joy cons what with all the additional moves you can do that way.

Also how you going to find all those moons that require the rumble feature???

The $299 Switch seems to translate to £279, so by same conversion, the $199 Lite would be £189 (although they may gouge us bit, of course). Personally, I don't want or need the docking function, so I would rather spend that 80-90 quid difference on a couple of games.

This seems like a strange thing to release. I could understand if it was still able to be docked but as is its of no interest to me especially at that price. It needs to be under £150 to make it tempting.

Now should they release a pro or a joycon with proper d pad then they can have my money! Haha

I’ve got to admit my switch only gets used in handheld, the joycon flex when attached does annoy me but I’m not normal! I just wish this had better colours :-(

Phew – glad it’s something I don’t want so I don’t have to justify an upgrade (or sidestep, as this would be).

I play my Switch handheld almost exclusively and it doesn’t leave the house. But I wouldn’t want a smaller screen or to lose the ability to dock.

But I am almost tempted for the proper D-pad alone.

I wish they would have announced a Switch TV Lite where its purely used through the TV like a Vita TV was a few years ago.

I was hoping both the Pro and Lite models would be announced together. But seeing as Animal Crossing has been put back and I was getting the Pro for the wife anyway I'll wait a bit longer.

There maybe an improved way... they want the two to coexist so make sense.. Have one at home and one for travel would be the sort of setup I want.

"Yes, you will have the ability to transfer between devices, your gameplay experiences. More to come on there, but that is the intention," Bowser told me. Could that be the multidevice account solution I've been waiting for? Maybe Nintendo has a plan in place to make it easier to switch Switches.

Nintendo Switch Lite is smaller, cheaper, and handheld only

It's interesting for sure. Though £50 for a dock and £50 for Joycons, means this is basically comparable to the current price really.

I'll remain curious. A pro model, I can get on-board with, but to what benefit will a Pro be? That's the question really. If it means bigger screen but same size...then yeah, I'll probably nibble.

If I didn't have a switch already I might of considered it as I only use my current one undocked really. Just don't think I could drop to a smaller screen and im totally convinced Nintendo will screw up something in regards to digital purchases or saves.

I like it. I dont care about TV stuff or detatching etc.

I just wish it was a bigger screen. 7" i would have pre ordered.

Amazon’s taking ore-orders, price £199.99 (with the usual pre-order price guarantee).

Be surprised if it doesn’t drop ten or twenty quid.

Same pre order price at Game as well. But they’ll probably hike the price with a forced bundle of console and giant sports direct mug..

I may consider this for my daughter of 8 as i don’t need to worry about joy cons breaking or placed on wrong. We already have two switches so this could be a welcome alternative.

I too would like one but in truth would rather have option of tv play for games like over cooked with my kids.

I also worry about what games may not be suitable for it? Will we end in a position where some games are not playable?

The colours are basic and you know there will be a special edition red Mario one or green Luigi ones down the line also.

I wondered who this was for then saw the Pokémon editions, pretty much answered my question. They need to sort out the multiple switches on an account with this, I don't really like playing mine handheld, k took my pro controller when we went away and played in tabletop instead, but this looks more comfortable to wrap your hands around.

Also wonder what design changes have been made inside to stop TV mode with an extra dock. It seems to still have the slit on the rear to guide it in to a dock which is an odd inclusion of it doesn't work on a dock. Maybe they've made the cooling worse to get the size down so it can't ramp up the CPU usage for those extra pixels.
