    Hello all

For those contemplating an SVS Subwoofer, the size of it MUST be considered :hiya:

I've posted pics of my setup with one of them being of my SVS PC Ultra next to one of the floor standing Quad 21L's. The Gamecube and CD's are there for scale :D

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/article.php?a=122

The 20-39 PC Plus and PCi will be the same size as the PC Ultra, the 16-46 will be taller

Hint, don't show the other halves these pics, or, you will NEVER get WAF :D :suicide:

I've put it on an 18" diameter x 2" thick concrete slab now. :D

It looked a bit vertically challenged before that!

A bit like the leaning tower of Pisa really.

The floorboards are a bit uneven right under the sub.

I hardly ever notice the sub is there any more.

Until I switch it on!

The difference between a man and a boy...is the size of his toys? :p

I was lucky I got my one approved by her indoors.

When the box arrived, it was almost as big as her!!

She now thinks it actually looks...."cool":eek::eek:

The pics linked to above don't the room full justice, the flash was a bit too bright, the walls are a lot darker than they appear there. With the walls being so dark, the SVS is actually difficult to notice as it kinda blends in with the walls LOL!

My parents have been over a few times, and they only noticed the sub after I turned it on

One of our cats had a habit of climbing up to the top of the PC Ultra, she is such a stubborn thing and no amount of telling her off would work.

So I thought I would show her why it isn't a good idea.

As I saw she was trying to get close to the PCU. I slapped on Minority Report, now this little kitty doesn't mind loud noise, she is kinda used to it with my listening levels.

I put the sonic gun scene on in chapter 9, just waited and watched, the amp was at about -10db. BOOM! first gun blast went off, she looked at me with the dirtiest look I've ever seen from a cat, then, the second blast went off, she jumped so high and landed on the sofa, she walked out of the room in disgust with her trademark "screw you" grumble meow type noise.

Suffice to say, she has not gone near the PC Ultra since, she still sits close to it, but will no longer claw it or sit on it :) Job done :D

Those 926s look lovely (with the grilles on), but Daneel, you soooo need a new TV. Next time I hear any comments from you about "nothing looks as good as my 21" CRT" then I'm personally going to shoot you:D

I don't believe I've ever said that Matt, plus it isn't my tv. :p

I can't put in a bigger tv without moving house, the speakers aren't sheilded so anything bigger has its picture distorted. :(

I think we should all congratulate Daneel on finally upgrading that ancient TV to something more in line with the quality of the rest of his setup :D A nice 32" Toshie picture frame TV :)

Kazman - Do you use the 2 subs together or in different setups?

Currently have them in the same system.

The BK is connected to the centre pre out at the moment, just experimenting with adding some more low down grunt to the centre channel. Finding it very difficult to integrate the two subs though, needs a lot of tweaking.

Going to have a good play with the settings over the weekend, and see if I can get them working together.

I don't know how to break this to you gently but all of your subs are in the wrong place!

You don't want to do it like that. :clown:

Move your speakers further apart and bring the sub just inside whichever speaker makes most sense. You are pushing your speakers too close together for decent imagary or sound field. :nono:

I'm not entirely sure who that comment's aimed at, but at first glance that looks like a woeful sweeping statement...how can you comment on sub positioning in people's rooms without listening to them first hand? Or were you joking?

I'm also interested in who's system(s) you're referring to? Also, I can't see the positioning of the sub making too much of a difference as they are none-directional.

    It's not that ugly!

Just out of curiosity, you seem to have mostly silver equipment - why did you go for the black yammy?

Your not the only person to say that :) but its actually Titanium the picture (must be the lighting) makes it look black for some reason

In the stand it actually looks ok although why Yamaha use Titanium and not proper silver is beyond me as i would of still preferred silver
