At long last, courtesy of Jase, I have now got my 20-39+, and it's sat looking menacing in the corner of my room.

I need to change the power cable however, and I was wondering:

would I need a completely new cable, or could I just chop the plug off the end, and put a british plug on instead? If I do do that, does anyone know which flex colour is which? I've got a white cable and a black cable, but don't know which is live and which is neutral, and for obvious reasons, I don't really want to get them the wrong way round!

    Cheers,

    Toby

I chopped off the end of my Parasound power cable without any problems.

I know that that is the British standard, but this is a US cable, and the flex colours are Black + White, not Brown + Blue, so I'm in the dark as to which is which.

I binned the supplied cable and just used one that I had lying around that came off a printer. I keep meaning to upgrade it and one day no doubt I'll get around to it.

I'm not a mains cable freak but I replaced the standard 2 x 1mm^2 SVS cable with 2 x 1.5mm^2. Finding a removable IEC female plug to fit the sub wasn't easy as most plugs are moulded on. A DIY superstore had a short lead with removable plugs. So I replaced the fitted cable with 6 metres of rubber sheathed cable for flexibility to help me reach the subwoofer. I believe heavier cable helps heavy transients particularly when a much longer cable is required. The SVS subs are not earthed so only two-core cable is required.
