I've left it late in life, way too late in fact, but I have just discovered Sushi.

So, I'm on my knees here...hands clasped... Where do I go in the UK for a 'hardcore' Sushi experience?

I'm brand new to the stuff, know absolutely nothing about it, not even the name of a single authentic dish... but I like absolutely everything I have tried so far.. Sushi Rocks!!

Any recommendations will be seriously considered..!!
If there are any more fans out there we can even make a night out of it?

    C'mon peeps, feed the Dude!

I'll trade Sushi Bar info, in exchange for the name of the best Thai Restaurant in England... :D

Soho London. Too many sushi bars to mention and thats before you even get to chinatown ( yes I know sushi is Japanese).

Itsu ( very good very expensive and a flask of saki gets you munted at lunchtime!)
    Satsuma
    Yo Sushi
    Moshi Moshi
    Arigato

some of these are chains so you might find one or two outside London.

I also like ramen (soupy noodles) and okonomoyaki (omlette thing: Abeno near the british museum is good)

    too many to list

Sashimi is essentially the fish , Sushi is essentially the rice. The terms are somewhat interchangable but if I were to order salmon sashimi I'd expect half a dozen or so quite thick slices of salmon served maybe on a bed of seeweed and or radish with some soya sauce and wasabi....essentially..no rice. If it was on a roll of rice its sushi.

    I agree..

The best place in london, or even anywhere I know is Soho.

I work on Dean St, and am surrounded by Sushi bars... theres even a place on Wardor St that sells Sushi on the street, so you can pick up when just walking by! :smashin:

    Great!

Yo sushi is cool, but too many dark grey dishes gets your debit card feeling slightly burned!!!

That's Itsu. Its a bit pricey though (15quid for lunch is the norm and you can even rack that up with the takeaway bento boxes and a drink easily). The homeless (junkie scum every single one of them in soho) are forever grabbing stuff from the outside chillers.
