    I've been trying for a while to listen to various surround speakers to go with my current kit (PMC FB1, PMC TB2C) but have yet to find a dealer who can demo the speakers I've narrowed it down to with my speakers.:(

    The speakers I've narrowed it down to are;

    Energy Veritas 2.0R
    Kef TDM 34DS
    Jamo D7SUR

    The 2 questions I have are;
    1) Does it matter if the surrounds are not matched to my current set-up
    2) Are there bette alternatives?

    What are the opinions of people who own/have owned these speakers.

    Regards
    John

    Assuming you are talking about the rear speakers, then no it doesn't matter if they don't match the current speaker. The centre channel is important to match though.
    Well what's your budget?

    Vikki,
    Sorry what I should have said is that I intend using these as the side speakers and a pair of PMC TB2's as rears.

    The budget I have is around £1,000

    Cheers

    Ahhh ... so the 6th and 7th channel then.

    Currently I have a matched set of 3 (601s2) at the rear, but I'm contemplating replacing the centre back with 2x KEF Eggs. Doesn't really help with your question but anyway ...

    Is there some reason you don't just want to buy 2 more PMC TB2s? I don't know how much they are so guess it might be a cost issue? You may find with alternative speakers that you have slight issue with tonal differences ... but the only way to see if it bothers you is to demo.

    (BTW, I don't really have any comments about your choices ...)

    The elusive 6th & 7th channel indeed, can't wait for my new amp to take advantage:)

    I have a reasonably big room (6m x 8m) and I wanted to diffuse the sound more by using di-poles rather than direct radiators like another pair of TB2's, although that was my first thoughts. The 8m side is along the sides and the 6m wall at the back, hence the requirement to perhaps diffuse the sound more.
