Hi all
thanks for the add
im looking at 2 tvs

I kind of prefer the first one but it is surround sound was just going to wall mount it and no room with cat and kids for extra speakers. Would the sound still be good with no added speakers? or no point getting surround sound and the Dolby Digital Plus on the Samsung would be much better?

one last question - if my old wall mounted tv was 40 inch and universal brackets would they hold a 50 inch?
thanks

Best read through this useful guide:

Good value TVs/ones with decent spec, start at 55” and up: if you fit that size, way better value options are available.

If you are looking at a cheap small (less than 55”) tv, then generally cheaper the better.

Odds are a bracket for a 40” tv will hold a 50”, but best check the weight capacity and tech specs to be sure.

Cheers

Surround sound built into TVs is mostly a fad. Some of the very higher end TVs will do it okay, but even those are beaten by dedicated systems. Its always a good idea to consider an additional soundbar with a TV purchase. Even a basic one without surround will be a lot better than TVs built in sound until you are reaching very high budgets.
