Wasn't to sure where to post this so if forgive if am in the wrong place........

    At moment I have a Toshiba 32WL56 TV & Pioneer DVD 585A.

Now I would love to setup surround sound but the majority of the budget systems come with a DVD..........

The only one that I have seen is the Yamaha TSS-15.

So any other suggested systems?......budget approx £200.00.

Also the discription on the Yamaha states setup into "your DVD"......can I not plug direct into the TV?

I had a Yamaha TSS (from hyperfi for £80). It is OK for your computer but a bit rubbish in your living room.

If you're on a budget look at the classifieds here or on fleabay (or maybe RS), get an amp and some front speakers, and build on it as funds allow e.g. sub.

Ok after doing plenty of searching over the last few days I have come to the conclusion my budget will have to be raised a little and buy a receiver and seperate speakers...........

I have been looking at the Denon 1706 & 1906 models plus some the Yamaha models around £250.00..........Yamaha - NSP110 speakers I believe will be suitable to use.

I am now going over in my head how all this will wire up:confused:

    My understanding is as follows......please correct me if I am wrong;

TV > TVDrive (via HDMI)......so what will then wire upto the receiver? TVDrive or TV?

DVD > TV (Via Scart)......DVD into receiver.

Then all the speakers into there respective positions in the receiver.

Sorry if these questions are so obvious to everyone........am old man and a complete noob;)

Have the Denon 1706 and Yamaha NSP110 speakers myself and have just been getting them set up over the last couple of weeks. I am not an audiophile or an expert in any way shape or form, but reckon the system works pretty well. It's in a smallish living room, (10*16 feet roughly) and does the business.

The way I have it set up with Sky is

    Sky into TV via scart
Sky into Reciever (TV plugs) via phono inputs
Not sure how TV drive works, but if it has the outputs you can connect it to the receiver I presume....it hase several phono inputs for TV/CD etc so you could connect them both

DVD recorder into Receiver via optical cable

Probably someone on here would know better, but that is the way I have it set up and once I got my speakers in the right inputs I was away!:D

Thanks for the feedback and it's good to hear that you find the combination works well.

Any Denon DHT1356-XP users on here?
