Hi, I've recently purchased a home theatre system and wanted some advice on how to connect other devices to it. I currently have Sky and a DVD recorder but am not sure how to connect these via the surrond sound system.

Having read the instructions it seems that I need to connect each device via an audio cable and a video cable. Can someone advise me on which cables are best to use or point me in the direction of some setup guides.

    Thanks

I just have a normal sky box. I've just bought Sony DAVX1G surround sound system. I have a 40" Sony Bravia KDL40V2000U and also a Sony DVD recorder with hard drive. In work at the moment and can't remember the model no. I think its RDR-HX510 with 80GB hd.

Sky direct to TV with SCART cable (Quality), standard stereo RCA/phono cable for sound, you need Sky+ or SKYHD to get real surround via optical.
DVD recorder Component video out set to progressive direct to TV, need a cable like this http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/CP001.html + http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/PH002.html for the audio from DVD to TV. Connect http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/PH400.html from DVD to co-ax input on surround system, you may have to assign the input on the surround system to an input, example "Digital in X to DVD", see your instructions.
That leaves an optical input for the future which can be SKY+ of SKYHD.
