Surge protection recommendations

I'm starting to think about surge protection now that i have a pretty expensive cd player, i already have a mains conditioner which is some odd named device from china, which i'm pretty sure has no surge protection.

I know some surge protectors can be detrimental to sound quallity, so i'm looking for recommendations on this, i came across this one - http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=41WD&CategorySelectedId=11230&NavigationKey=11230,50909

not really looked at anything else and i'd want to keep within the price range of the above item, if possible.

Thanks !

Reuben...I have the slightly bigger version of this, the PF50,bought fairly recently as we have an awful overhead mains supply, frequently hit by lightning, and felt that I'd chanced the system enough already.

The internal components and filtering appear very similar to that used by competitors in the audiophile filtering market(!),and this review may be of some use, albeit for a US spec of the next model up.

The internals are neatly laid out,and seem to carry more than adequate filtering and protection, plus a comprehensive guarantee.

In use,it does lower the noise floor, especially for digital components, and also cleans up the picture quality a little on the plasma.
Obviously,it is not useful for very high current power amps, but for everything else,I'd recommend it.

I think that internally it seems to offer at least what most of the UK audiophile competiton seems to have.

It's well made, easy to use and has plenty of outlets(12),and looks pretty decent ,as well as doing exactly what it says.
