    Hi

Looking around to find a supplier in the UK of pure Region 1, unmodified 110V DVD players- preferably with guarantee.

I don't want to get a 240V player modified as I don't want R2 at all (and a pure R1 will probably be more reliable at playing back RCE etc)

    Thanks
    Nathan

The Disc Emporium can also supply pure region 1 machines - I have had two in the past from there, both with full 12 month guarantee and available via mail order.

Cheers. What's the general consensus of Toshiba, Onkyo, Sony or Pioneer DVD players?

Does the Pioneer 6xx range suffer from the Chroma problem? What about Lip-Sync? RCE? Slow Disney menus?

I've got a 110v Pioneer 606D. Its been a very good player and can't say I've seen any problems with it. I've not seen the chroma bug, but then again I'm not sure I'd see it any way - I've tried on my Denon 3800 and cant see anything on the disc that are supposed to be good examples. I've not come acros any lipsyncs and it is RCE happy (as you'd expect).

Its actually remote control region free so even better. as my first player I loved it. It even play R2 discs my R2 Sony Autochanger didn't even like!

Pioneer do make exceedingly good kit

If you can't get satisfaction on a new player - contact me it's your if you want it.

i've also got a pioneer 606d which i've had for 3 or 4 years now without any problems

the only thing i don't like is the manual region selection but that's not too difficult

Set a macro up- I created two- R1 and R2 macros. It goes into the menu, condition, display, 1 or 2, then exit. Then Play!

    Brother was well impressed!

Panasonic RP91 is currently regarded as having exemplary interlaced component outputs.

I bought a Toshiba SD4700 through Amazon Z shops, a really good player with prog scan, DVD-A should you need them.
DVD City supply both region 1 and multiregion and ship internationaly but appear a little more expensive.
I chose to have this and a region 2 Sony ns900v, though I gave in and had it made multiregion by remote from the supplier. The reason was to make it more wife friendly, one remote, auto scart switching etc.
As mentioned, it is a very good, easy to use player but not so sure I would do it again as the price and features of new m/r players don't seem to make it worthwhile e.g philips 963.

Dunno if this is of any help to anyone:

    http://www.world-import.com/DVD-RV82-wmv.htm

This player got one of the best results over at hometheaterhifi.com, so if you don't mind importing, could be worth getting.

    Gary.
