I know this is slightly off-topic for a "climate change" forum, but when are the big supermarkets going to start eco-friendly packaging? Why are we not offered paper or plastic, like in the states? Why, if I am buying an apple, do I have to put it in a plastic bag? They jump all over other consumer-driven trends (eg. non-bio powders, free-range stuff, eco-friendly wot-nots, processed vs. orgasmic...). The only thing my council refuses to accept for recycling is plastic.
