For anyone who's interested: Got the two-disc set yesterday and watched the Director's Cut on the supplemental disc. Picture quality is fine but not excellent - rather grainy in places. Note, however that the Directors Cut has a Mono soundtrack.
Haven't watched the shorter International version on the main disc yet, but the cover claims this has a DD5.1 track.

BTW, It's region free. Why ON EARTH aren't all back-catalogue titles region free?

It also has some THX setup material - to check and set up geometry, white balance, grey scale, colour, and various sound settings.

Please - no criticism of my choice of films; I like it and that's all that matters.

I just fancy Helen Slater- my wife is a dead ringer for her, but refuses to let me buy her a Supergirl suit.

Yeah, I've got one coming from www.dvdboxoffice.com

I'm sure it's not a great film but since I'm a Superman fan I'd like to re-watch it as I've not seen it in at least 15 years.

Where did you get it sooo early, Movietyme?

How did I get it so early?

When I'm feeling impatient (normal), I pre-order my R1 discs from LVS in King's Langley. They aren't cheap, but their service is unquestionably second to none. I have no hesitation in recommending them to those who, like me, don't care about the odd few quid here and there, but can't bear waiting.....

Price examples: Supergirl SE was £30.99 inc del. Bond titles £28.99, most others £20-99 or £22-99.

Delivery: Usually supplied 1-2 weeks prior to official release date.

And yes, Helen Slater is GORGEOUS! If what Duncan says is true, he's a lucky lad! Shame about the outfit, though. How about a grey skirt and green blazer?

    Hi Nigel,

That's helluvalot of money you spent there! I hope it's worth it.

My Supergirl: LE cost me GB£16.80 delivered. It's coming via Donkey Post™ from www.dvdboxoffice.com It could be a long wait.

I can relate to your impatience! (I just had to have Jaws early and paid GB£3 extra at www.movietyme.com)

Yes, it was expensive. But, for years I bought all my movies on Laserdisc. You could hardly get any LD for less than about £35 and specials were £50, £75 or more. So, put into this context, £31 for a special edition seems like a bargain........ And, as I said before, their service is beyond doubt the best I have ever experienced.

    Nigel,

You're right. I'm an LVS fan from back in the day of my Laserdiscs and now. Yes they do charge more but the service is amazing. As you said it is possible to get a film up to two weeks before release date!

LVS website - not that I know of.

    E.Mail: ldi@laservisual.com.

I've always dealt with them on the phone - 01923 267060.
