    Hi all,

This is the first time I've come across superbit DVDs and was wondering if someone could tell me about them, please?

    What are they?

Where do you get them from and are they readily available?

What are the advantages and what do they have that normal DVDs don't?

    thanks

SuperBit DVDs use all the available storage capacity of DVD to acheive maximum picture and sound quality. This leaves no room for extras.

What you should see on a good display system is more fine detail and less MPEG artifacts like pixelation/blocking.

In theory, edge enhancement should also be reduced, but this doesn't seem to be the case will all the SuperBit DVDs to date. But that's another story...

The end result should be the best picture/sound experience that DVD can deliver in your system.

    Regards

    Dumfy,
use the search facility to read about them in several previous discussions.
    Also check the FAQ.

    Hi Mark

Superbit dvds are discs devoid of any special features etc as they have used the disc space for better quality video & audio, you also get the choice of DTS or Dolby Digital, with DTS normally coming out on top in terms of higher quality, better mix etc.

They are available from www.play.com and other retailers such as movietyme.

At the moment there are only R1 discs available.

There are some other posts in this forum about them and links to reviews of the discs themselves.

    cheers
