A return to the sandbox design of Mario 64 and Sunshine.

      Coming Holiday 2017

Super Mario Odyssey - Nintendo Switch...

Shame it isn't ready for launch but at least Nintendo have one big game ready for the Switch's first Christmas.

A sandbox Mario is what I have been hoping for and would have been enough for a launch day order.
As it stands, I will hold off now until Christmas.

This looks amazing, I think this could seriously make or break the switch this year when you consider the rest of its launch window titles.

      Yes!
This looks amazing, gave me Mario 64 vibes with a bit of Galaxy and 3D world.
      Can't wait.

This looks amazing, what a shame it couldn't have been a launch title.

At launch £279.99 bundled with this game the Switch would be flying off the shelves.

Yes must admit, my eyes lit up when I saw this - reminds me very much of why I love Nintendo, plus it'll be very much like Mario 64/Sunshine open world game. Mario 64 was the game that introduced me to Nintendo and I guess this game will not disappoint :)

Shame it's not a launch game but then again, Zelda, Mario at launch would've been sublime but my wallet has other important things to buy atm - roll on Xmas 2017

Cannot wait to get this - must have watched the trailer about 50 times already!

While I am disappointed that this isn't coming out at launch, it just means Christmas is going to be awesome when I get to play it!

Lost it when Mario used the hat to jump from Skyscraper to Skyscraper - amazing.

I'm alone here but as a HUGE Mario fan when I first saw it I was so turned off. Mario in a real life location with real human models was just really wrong for me. I hope to God that's one single level in the game.

I also feel the camera is way too close to Mario in the demo footage and looks like playing would be very confusing seeing where you're jumping too, but I'm sure there'll be camera options.

I was watching the Easy Allies stream, when Mario Odyssey showed up I had a similar reaction to the people on the stream.

What does sandbox mean?, is that the same as a open world Mario?.

Without being too dramatic- it's basically the game I have been waiting for ever since I was a twinkle in my Fathers eye.

I think it means the game structure is closer to 64 and Sunshine than Galaxy or 3D World.

When it comes to Mario I think it means there's a good sized world as a link between the levels. So in Mario 64 there was the castle and Mario sunshine had the plaza. so the spaceship in Mario galaxy and Map in 3D world didn't have the same effect as those 2.

It means that the levels will be open worlds, more like SM64, rather than the more restricted, A to B levels of Galaxy.

      Short answer is yes

Miyamoto saying the JoyCon controllers lend themselves to Mario in an open world. He also said they have got the camera behaviour and positioning spot n too. Bodes well

Looks really good. Needs to be in a Switch bundle for £250 next Christmas. Should be just about finished Breath of the Wild on Wiiu by then. :)

not looked at switch at all until watched the Mario trailer this AM and was very pleasantly surprised, it looks great...then went on to watch some other footage with my youngest. I think there may be room in my house for Nintendo again.... :)

I'm afraid that when I saw "new Donk city" this was my first thought...

Blackout Crew - Put A Donk On It (Official Video)

Which may not be what Nintendo was thinking of...

"HAHAHHHA PUT A DONK ON IT!"

I think it looks great. Hoping it's release near the end of the year will coincide with a drop in price for the console/console plus game bundle.

I think putting this in a console bundle for Christmas would be great for Nintendo. It looks fantastic.

Super Mario Odyssey will feature at this year’s E3

hope they show more new games instead, Pikmin?

Miyamoto said last year that Pikmin 4 was nearly finished so there's a good chance it'll be at E3, along with whatever Retro Studios are working on for Switch.

Yeah I remember at last years E3 Ninty said they look forward to showing off Mario at E3 '17 which is why I suspected we wouldn't see a Mario release at the Switch launch.

Well I've had plenty to say about the Switch, but seeing this trailer......well it's almost enough to make me want one again, it just looks absolutely brilliant. Takes me back 20 or more years to seeing footage of Mario 64 for the first time.

I also think this is a great example of why Nintendo themselves don't need super powerful hardware and pure tech specs often don't tell the whole story. It's just a pure work of art and the art style and character evident could make me want to watch it all day, much more so than some of these 4K 60fps technical tour de forces that nevertheless are grey and dull. I live in a big grey sandbox and it's nice for my videogames to look like colourful Pixar movies!

Yes- SM64 changed everything for me. Fond memories of queuing up outside Electronics Boutique.

I'm tempted to start the game again from scratch. Must've done it four times now.
