Hello all new to site
My Freecom media players has gone kaput and I am looking at getting the cyclone MKV

Just a question on networking

My wiresless router is behind my TV can I just do as I did with my freecom and hardwire the cyclone to my router
And then connect the cyclone to me TV

If I do this will I see my hard drives and not need a dongle?

Moving to video streamer section....

you can just hardwire it. no you dont need a dongle.

the information you give regarding your hdd is too little to help with if you will be able to see them or not.

do you have a NAS? a PC? what OS?

I have a PC, no NAS devices just the HD's in my PC
My OS is Windows 7 x64
My PC has a wireless USB dongle

My HD'S are the ones in my PC
I am using Windows 7 x64

My PC has a Belkin USB dongle that connects to my Belkin router

My old kaput Freecom was an NDAS device and it had a 500GB HD in it which is still OK and now in my PC now

But the cyclone doesnt hold a HD so I was thinking If I hard wire it to my router and HDTV I could stream my films direct from my PC, but I'm not sure hence my original question/post

sounds like your pc is connected with wireless.

if that's the case your files will stream 'ok' like this:

windows share -> wireless ->router ->cyclone

and that wireless is your bottleneck. i wouldnt count on much HD, but you may be lucky, it's a hell of a lot better having wireless there than at the streamers end.

if you go for the sumvision cyclone ENCLOSURE, then you can install a hdd. although some users are reporting issues with large (>500gb) drives.

so if you want a hdd, i'd plump up the cash for an ACRyan.
