anyone been able to get an LG magic remote (an-mr400) to control a Samsung V+ box?

I've followed the set up on the tv and no joy...

    thanks for looking :)

Hi, I couldn't get this to work either. I tried all the Samsung remote options, and the Virgin options, but none seemed to be recognised. Let me know if you find another way to get this working!

I'm not sure how the magic remote controls the v+ box

I think the magic remote is radio frequency, not infra red? (like a wii remote)

I think the way it works is:
    press button on magic remote
    keypad appears on tv screen
click magic remote pointer on relevant on-screen button to control v+ box

I assume the tv is controlling the v+ box? through the HDMI lead?

so, if my assumptions above are right- maybe the HDMI lead (supplied by Virgin when they installed the V+ box) is not able to do this?

anyone got any thoughts on above?

    thanks

The remote definitely works via IR; I have mine controlling the volume on my surround sound. I can block the signal to the surround sound with my hand, and see the IR from the remote if looking through a camera phone.

When bringing up the on-screen remote and selecting other functions, the TV must send a message back to the remote telling it to send the required IR codes.

I guess they just don't have the right codes for the Samsung V+ box. Might be an excuse to get a TiVo.
