A small summary of dvd players launched in the IFA Berlin 2003.
All the information are from www.areadvd.de where some pictures are also available. The translation was made with babelfish.

There are some interesting players from Pioneer, Denon and MAS!

    Happy Reading.

    Wasabi.

    PIONEER
    DV-868AVi
    DV-668AVi

868 has both i.LINK and HDMI while 668 has only HDMI
HDMI enables the new Pioneer Player to transmit highly soluble graphic data and a 2-Kanal stereo tone with 5 Gigabit per second with only one interwiring directly and with absolutely loss-free to the screen.

In order to be able to use the data transmission rate of the HDMI interface also optimally, the 868 accommodates a new chip with the designation "t-Rex". This chip takes over the function of a high speed video Scalers, which PAL of picture signals of 720 x projects 576 on highly soluble 1280 x of 720 pixels, whereby even conventional video material is revalued clearly.

Both models support DVD audio and SACD beside DVD video also and spend PAL progressive ones. The 668 is appropriate by its HDMI interface for highest image quality. The DV-86ÅVi as king model of this series, unites interface the best from both worlds, in equipment, which offers highest requirements with that to picture and tonwiedergabe with HDMI and iLINK. Both new DVD Player should be available starting from autumn, an exact price are not yet known.

It includes both a software and hardward modification. More information on which service centers that have the correct equipment will be announced later.

A DVD player with an iLink output - very, very interesting. I wonder what piracy prevention they can put on that... also apart from the Momitsu V880 which can be used as a straight DVI player, I wonder how many of these new HDMI players will be compatible with the Pio 433 MXE...?

    Hi Easy,

You would need an Aurora card with a DVI-HDCP input in place of the standard PDA-5002 card on your MXE, to connect up these HDMI players. The audio-only iLink on the 868AVi will have DTCP copy protection, like on the current 757Ai. Hope this helps.
