Another TV suggestion thread so apologies in advance

I’m looking to get a new TV in the next 6-8 weeks as an upgrade from my Sony Bravia KDL50W8 1080p TV which I had in 2015

I’m currently looking at the Samsung QE55Q6F (Samsung QE55Q6F QLED HDR 1000 4K Ultra HD Smart TV, 55" with TVPlus/Freesat HD & 360 Design, Ultra HD Certified, Black at John Lewis) but I’m after some advice on if there is a better TV available at the same or similar price range?

My main usage going forward will be UHD Blu Rays, Gaming, Sports and Films

    Thanks for any replies

Slightly more expensive but Sony 55XE9005 would be a step up. It’s c£999 currently. Or you could go down a bit and get Samsung MU7000 which is not too dissimilar to the Q6.

If you do decide on the Q6 then Richer Sounds have it with 5% off, so roughly £835.

Now is probably the best time to buy a tv as 2017 models are reduced. In 6-8 weeks vast majority will be 2018 ones which will carry a premium.

You'll want at least the XE9005, failing that the Q7.

Just out of curiousity what’s wrong with the Q6 from John Lewis? Just so I know what to look out for

Its HDR performance is lacklustre. You need a TV that gets brighter (Q7) or a TV that gets brighter and has decent local dimming (XE9005).

Sadly the manufactures slap the HDR badge on everything, all it means is a TV can accept a HDR signal. There are various factors that constitute to a good HDR picture and the Q6 doesn't cut it, in my opinion anyway.
