I am considering the following subwoofer options (£300 imposed limit) to go with my KEF Q setup:

    Monitor Audio ASW 100
Eltax Atomic A-10
KEF 20 B
KEF 30B
B&W ASW 1000

    Any comments from excited/disappointed users?

Where can you get the B&W ASW 1000 from for £300?

The ASW 500 is the closest to the £300 mark at £350.

    Highly recommended though.

if it were my money: Forget the Eltax and listen to the rest, they're all O.K.

    My mistake!
It was the B&W ASW 500 I saw for £350 (a justifiable stretch over the imposed limit of £300.

Any thoughts on the Monitor Audio sub?
What is wrong with the Eltax?

You could build your own as I am: see

    http://www.iplacoustics.co.uk/ipl_sw2_active_subwoofer.htm

I hope to finish next weekend. It will cost £300 and I'm looking forward to hearing it for the first time while I watch U571 dvd for the first time!

The 30B is going cheap via various vendors ie, Superfi etc. Scan through a copy of What HiFi for the box shifters.

I think I'd go for the B&W but you'd be wise to listen to them.

Also, check with Kef on this one but I don't think they make the 20B anymore and I know they don't make the 30B now.

Listen to the man with the ipl sub. I have one of these and it is a class above anything you can buy for £300. I have had a rel straterIII at home to try and although I could not test both together I was not disapointed when I finished the ipl kit. The finish you can get with the iron on veneers is so much better than the cheap finishes on £300 subs. I also added spikes from maplins later on which firmed up the bass more.

sounds about right as the total kit is round about
£270 with the speaker and pre cut wood and high level input lead. Still does not leave much for profit.

Mine is built and I have been using it for about six months. I had no problems building it. I did not screw the cabinet together but glued it and it is air tight.

Excelent sound for the price and looks really good with a real wood veneer stained to whatever you like.
