The subwoofer output on my AV amp and that on the back of my subwoofer (LFE connection) are both female phono plugs.

I am using the normal coax cable to connect (male phono plug at each end) but I was wondering whether this rather thin cable was appropriate.

Are there any special (heavy duty) cables available that also come with male phono plugs at each end?

    Thanks,

There are numerous subwoofer phono cables out there from the likes of IXOS, QED, Monster cable etc. I use the IXOS 1141 Gamma (3m) + a Studio reference 1/2 metre phono to connect the sub to the parametric equalizer. In other words, you can use any phono cable for sub duties, better shielding can be had on subwoofer cables is all.

Any decent quality phono cable will do the job just fine, being sure to use a cable of similar quality to the rest of your system.....I use and unshielded XLO cable in mine, with no problems.

Just make sure that you upgrade your cable if you ever get yourself some decent equipment ;)
