    Hello

Can anyone tell me whether the Mordaunt Short MS 308 sub woofer is a lot better choice than a Eltax Atom A8.2 sub At present I have the Eltax

    Cheers

If you can stretch your budget to £220 have a look at the Mordaunt Short MS309 which is now the sub to beat.

If it is on your budget, the 308 is generally better than the Atomic series (although the A12 is quite cool) but as the previous posters state, the 309 is way better than the 308- tis why we built it :).

Thank's for the advice/suggestions now all i've got to do is persuade the wife. One further question re position of sub woofer i've heard that it can be placed anywhere ie behind the settee as that is my main stumbling block she don't like a box on show. any thoughts on this one

Yes you can place the sub anywhere as bass is omni-directional.
The easy way to find out the best place for the sub is to place the sub in your listening position, unplug your main speakers and play something very bassy while walking arround the room listening for where the bass sounds the best to you.:D
