    OK here we go.

    My system comprises:

    Pannasonic PT300ae projector
    Sony NS900 DVD player
    Nad c521bee cd player
    Sky+
    Sony 1080 6.1 amp
    AE evo 3 L + R
    AE evo centre
    Mission M7ds x3 rears
    Yahama YTS160 sub woofer

Problem is, is this the best sub for getting the best out of my system for watching movies and a little music?

I have been toying with the REL Quake. But will I notice a difference and if so oppinions please.

How much did you want to spend?.....opinions of the REL Quake are a bit mixed, and you should also try Velodyne,SVS,and B&W if any of these fit your price requirements.

    For that sort of money...
    B&W ASW600 about £400
    Velodyne VX10 about £250
    SVS subs.....see their website www.svsubwoofers.com
REL's quake will also fit into your budget, but the other models will be over.

I'm sure other members will add their recommendations and comments also, but be sure to try as many as you can before buying, and experiment with positioning also.

All of these should be a substantial improvement over the sub you use now.....I wouldn't personally recommend any particular one as I think it's a very personal and room dependent choice.

Also consider second hand. You could get a Rel Storm, Velodyne CHT-12 for that.

Assuming that you were interested in a Quake due to it's size, the MJ equivalent is the Pro 50 which is an excellent sub that has been awareded five stars from almost every magazine that has tested it.

Of the other subs that have been mentioned, the cheapest SVS is over your budget and may lose out as in common with the Paradigm Servo 15 it is rather large.

In that case the Paradigm Servo 15 at £399 from Richer Sounds is a no brainer. It is a Premier League sub at a Conference price.

Your mate will be as sick as the proverbial parrot at the quality of bass sound that is available for Quake money.

    Jack

Just make sure you stick with it. Look at the other threads currently running on the subject of the Servo 15. Plenty of advice out there in dealing with RS. Pronlem is they don't have them instore. Only in their warehouse.

From other people's experiences they can be a bit of a nightmare to deal with. Basically they don't know what they are doing half the time and may try and flog you something else, or tell you it's old technology or some other mumbo-jumbo. Take it from me and others on here, it's one hell of a sub and at the current price its practically being given away. In the US the retail at around $1300.

BTW I got mine 2nd hand. But had to go 200 miles for it :D

I'm sure, if you need convincing, that someone on the forum can arrange a demo.

    cheers

    Don't think so.

I know some of the other forum members have had problems getting hold of them. RS can be a right buch of useless gets apparently. Look at the other Servo 15 threads on how other members have got a hold of these.

Although I have read on some posts that some of these may be the last they are getting. It may be that paradigm are bringing out a new model. Who knows?

If your really stuck, here's another suggestion. the Mission M5AS

    these guys http://www.discounelectricaldb.co.uk/catalog/catalog/default.php?cPath=64
seem to be doing it at a reasonable price.

But if you can, hold out for the Servo if possible ;)
