    Hi all,
Time to get a sub. To keep the wife happy, it must match the (cherry) colour of current furniture and be real wood rather than MDF. (what a crazy request...asthetics before sonic performance, but there you go!!!)
So, I was thinking how about the BKXLS everyone here raves about, or possibly the Mission MS5AS? Is the mission worth the extra money?
Are there any other Cherry coloured wood quality subs for the £300ish mark that could be suggested?
Also, perhaps a dumb question but are the analogue amps a fire risk!? They get rather hot, and on a carpet....

The reason I want a smallish sub ... like bk xls200 ... I can easily put a small square-ish glass table over it, next to the sofa.

    see......

I cannot comment on the BKXLS.

However, check the following for a kick ass price on the mission

    http://www.discounttv.co.uk/missionspeakers.html

There is also the MISSION VOLARE V6AS SUBWOOFER @ £399.95 from Superfi.

Alternatively, look at the Velodyne CHT-R range from across the pond. I've just ordered a CHT-12R from Uncle Eric.

    Good luck :)

They look very nice but £469 is an awful lot for a sub with a manufacturer's claimed response of 25-120 Hz +/-3 dB when you can buy the BK Electronics XLS 200 with similar performance levels for only £279

That mission sub is quite a size so does that mean that size is not an issue.
An amp would not be fitted into a wooden box if it was a fire risk ,so i think you will be safe .It would only cause a fire if it was faulty and any eletrical item could cause a fire in that case.Don't :smoke: that helps.

It also has a huge round port on the front and anyone with young children could well find it being used as a post box
