I recently got a new sub and ran the auto-setup thing on my Yamaha DSP750 anyway first it says subwoofer too loud so I turn it down a touch and it was okay but now the subwoofer is set (on the amp) to -6 and the speakers all +3ish. What I was wondering is, as I don't know that much about the signal from Amps, it better to turn the volume on the Subwoofer down and have the output amp volume up at about 0? Otherwise I'm guessing that the subwoofer is unnecessarily overdriving the signal too some extent.

IMO i would turn the sub up and the amp down and let the sub 'take the strain'.
