You should be able to get a REL Q50 or even a Q100e for that. Best sub-£500 subs.
The new Yamaha YST-SW320 retails for about £350. I'm using one with 761i fronts, 77ds, 77c1 and an strdb930, and it works for me. WhatHifi did a group test of mid price subs in the lastest issue, and rated the Yammy as the best this side of £500.
Sorry to cut in....but, David_T does that Yammy appear well suited with the Missions?(I've got 732i's,77c1 and 700's at the back)and i was looking at that sub to replace a nasty aiwa. I have heard one running using an A5 and all of the Yamaha NS speakers, and that impressed me. Trouble is that was a short demo(walked in one someone else's!!)
Right, straight to the point.
I'm after a new sub with upto £350 to spend.
It's to go with Mission 773e fronts, 77C1 centre and 77DS rears. Powered by a Sony STR-DB930.
Any make or models you guys can recommend along with any retailers would be appreciated.
The only problem with common sense is it's not very common.
Cheers for the input.
I might just have to take a look in Rayleigh Hi-Fi. I beleive they stock both Rel and Yammy equipment.
My alternative top 5 "Sub suggestions"
1] No matter how hot it gets in summer, never go to sea with the sunroof open
2] If a U.S.O. crosses your bow, never, repeat never forget whose piloting the ship
3] Try to resist the temptation to "see how deep she can go!"
4] When joining a crew for the 1st time, don't **** off the captain over dinner.
5] During those quiet moments, don't suggest a game of "who can hold their breath the longest"
Put the bunny back in the box !
Cheers RadMan, I'll bear those points in mind when I'm down at the A/V Shop.
Do you reckon I should ask the assistant for his advice on those points?
Stick: Yes, it does seem to match the missions nicely. I've got the crossover at about 70hz, at the sub at no more than 1/3 vol. For music it fills in a HUGE hole at the bottom end of my aged 761is range without being intrusive, and for movies the bass seems both fast and very deep. The sub copes well with things like gunfire, and having recently tried stuff like the chariot battle in Gladiator and the rocket launcher scene in Ronin, the power is house shaking.
If your buying a Yamaha sub, check out the YSTSW320 at www.unbeatable.co.uk £276.96
I beleive it goes down to 20 HTZ.
Perhap's today is a good day yo die
get a £700 Sub for £275
Hey, Desmo forget all thats been said before, get yourself down to Richersounds. They stock some pretty impressive paradigm kit, namely the PS-1000 sub at £200 then you can spend the other £150 on the ladies
Ladies? They have to pay me
Thanks for the reply, i'd better start saving!!!!!!
