I'm still trying to set my sub up to integrate with my sats for music. I have disconnected the high level and use only the LFE with my processor controlling the crossover. Sometimes it sounds fine but on other tracks the sub becomes intrusive.

What I'm not clear on is whether this is a feature of all subs, or ported subs or a feature of the accoustics of my room.

    Anyone know?

It can also be a feature of the way some CD's are recorded.

Presumably you have the speakers set as small ?

    Ian,

Yep all small. I didn't notice it with my previous floorstanders so I guess a sub may accentuate the recording differences?

It might also be down to room acoustics. I have a problem in the 50Hz region which generally isn't too much of a problem but play the "wrong" track (something where bass guitar dominates, in my case) and the sub can be intrusive. You may not have noticed this with your floorstanders because they may have interacted with the room/each other differently, or possibly because they didn't go as low as the sub.
