A lot of fellow members have tried to help but I give in.
If i get a SPL meter i've got to learn how to use it, interprep its data etc. Similarly with a BFD, which I'm happy to buy, but, as Ian asks "do I actually need one" - answer - "I don't know".

So - is there an expert out there, relatively close to me (Peterborough) who will come and help me set mine up and give advice as to whether an upgrade would make appreciable difference.

Naturally I'd be happy to pay a reasonable charge for this help :)

    I've got to be realistic.
I'm getting on a bit now - probably only got about 30 years to go.
I've been twiddling with this sub for the last 2 to 3 years and can't get it right :D

Hehe, if that's how you really want to view it then it's your choice. Once you've mastered the basics of what frequency is and how it relates to your room and sub it's surprisingly simple to follow through. :)

I think that there are a few sub owning forum members that live in your neck of the woods and I'm sure that of them would be happy to cast an ear over your Stadium.

I Don't believe it. I got back from Peterborough last night after a great W/E. If no-one has visited by the time I go up to visit my brother-in-law next time, I would be very happy to play with your system.

    Regards

 Great, I'd really appreciate that. I should have a BFD arriving the in the next few days (not that I know how to use one)

If you can let me know next time you are this way I will make time to fit in with you - Thanks again

    Steve

I'll be working up north next week and will be coming back near Peterborough via the A1...want me to pop over one evening? (will likely to be around 4-6pm though).

Oh and what sub do you have? I thought it was an SVS?

I can show you how to use the BFD, it's a doddle (just time consuming)....but you need to download the sinewaves from the snapbug site, and the spreadsheet. Drop me a mail and we can go from there. Also do you have a copy of Avia?

    Cheers
    Matt

    That would be great

My sub is a Rel Stadium III, but I have been posting queries on SVS as I have been considering changing to one.
I want to see how good my sub is when it has been properly set up though as some US sites have compared it very favourably against SVS.

The last part of your post is what makes my eyes glaze over and starts the dizzy spells. You may as well be speaking Mandarin.

I'm in the middle of a house move so things are a bit mad, but tomorrow night I'll send you a mail with links to some files that you need, for you to burn to CD....I did have everything but all my stuff is packed now I'm afraid :(

Do you have Avia or Digital Video Essentials? (it's a calibration DVD, which we'll need to set your sub up properly).

    Cheers
    Matt

Can I join the party when Matt comes over? I also live in Peterborough (the new British Sugar estate off Oundle Road). I would really appreciate the opportunity to pick up some tips on how to set it all up. I have an SVS CS-Ultra. I also have an analogue SPL meter and Digital Video Essentials (albeit NTSC - most of my DVD's are region 1) if that helps.

    Thanks

    Gary

I also have a BFD btw. In fact, if you're considering an SVS, I'd be happy to return the favour and invite you to mine to have a listen once it's all set up properly....

Can I just say....I'm no expert, far from it! Just have a bit of experience in setting up subs. Whether I'm any good or not is open to debate:D

Hey all you guys and gals.

Any sub / BFD experts in the surrey area?
Anyone want to come and have a play with my PB12-Ultra and BFD?
I am having the most annoying time ever at present :(

I'll attach a pic of my graph in a bit (once i work out how to do it)
Plus the current version of my filters (I have set about 8 different sets of filters.
I am having a really strange thing happen.
I have a peak at about 50 Hz. when i set a filter here, up to about 3db of cut does reduce the peak a little (but not enough) but going anything over 3db actually increases the peak not reduces it!
    Arrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!!
This is driving me mad :(
I have spent hours on it today and can't seem to sort it for love nor money, so i'd be most grateful, and would offer a cash sum, to anyone who knows more what they are doing, to come and have a go

    Anyone?

Have you set up a BFD before?
Were you happy with the result at the end?
If you can answer yes to both questions - your my man!

Seriously, i'd pay you to come and have a look and see what i'm doing or not doing.

I've successfully set up my BFD with dual subs before now and was very happy with the results.

I'd be happy to come over for the price of fuel and a cup of coffee although I don't seem to have much spare time these days. Plus I'd like to hear your PB12 Ultra. :)
