    Hi all

I'm getting a Plasma screen soon, which will be wall mounted, and want to look at getting some smaller speakers to go with the new slimline look, without compromising on sound quality.

    Here's my current setup -

    Panasonic TH42PW6B Plasma
    Meridian 596 DVD Player
    Meridian 561 Processor
Krell KAV-300i Amp (powering front L/R)
Rotel RB993 Amp (powering centre and rear l/r)
    Ruark Prelude II Mains
    Ruark Epicentre Centre
    Definitive Technology Promonitor 80 Rears
    REL Storm III Sub

As I said, I don't want to compromise the sound quality and I listen to a lot of music as well, so stereo (or trifield) performance is equally as important as multi-channel.

Ideally, all 5 speakers should be identical. If not, at least the front 3 must be, with similar rears (so that they are voice-matched).

The speakers must be wall mountable (possibly bookshelf size if I can find suitable mounts, alternatively must be small and easily mountable, like the kef eggs)

I will be keeping my existing Storm III Sub, so only need front l/c/r and rear l/r.

I have already ruled out the kef eggs as their performance is nowhere near the performance of my existing setup (no offence to kef owners, they are great little speakers, just not what I'm after).

The things that I am considering are -

    M&K K series
    M&K 850 series
    M&K LCR series
    Meridian M33s (active)
B&W CDM1NT/705 (not sure about wall mounting these though!)
    Monitor Audio Radius

Should I be thinking about any others?? Are the Gallo Dues or a'divas meant to be good?

Are the Kef KHT5005 or 9005ACE meant to be good? can these be bought without the sub?

Any advice or suggestions more than welcome!!

    Thanks in advance
    Chez

I'd recommend you try the ProAc TR8 as well. Maybe even the new signature version (haven't heard it but it's supposed to be the Mutt's).

Edit - PMC DB1 as well, maybe. Also a very compact bookshelf.

Leema Zens! Wonderful little speakers which went VERY loud, without a hint of distortion @ Bristol Show last year. I'd have 'em in a second! Around £900 a pair, but the guys do deals on full sets I believe. Should match your high-end kit nicely. Good step up from the Ruarks too IMO. Really sing with music and movies.

Try a pair of the new Acoustic Energy AE1 Mk3s. Very compact and sound awesome. I have a pair as my front two.

    Crusty,
How much will those set me back? Do they come in a 5.1 package and with different possible finishes?
    Cheers,
    Jim

I should make a correction to bobbypunk's statment above. The AE1 Mk3s are available in a cherry, maple or black ash finish for £1700 and the piano black is a premium finish at £2000. The floorstanding AE3 Mk2s are a new addidtion to the range and only avilable in Piano Black for the moment and retail for £4200. We were out for a meal with the AE rep a few weeks ago who mentioned that they are looking into making a matching centre channel, which I am saving up for at this very moment. I imagine that a pair or AE3s as fronts a pair of AE1s as rears and the matching centre would sound amazing. If anybody wants a listen to the AE1s then pop in and visit me at Sevenoaks Edinburgh.
