i have an eltax EA SW20 subwoofer driven off my technics SADX940 amp. Its positioned under the TV and is switched on all the time (cos its a pain dragging it out all the time). When the amp is amp is switched off, theres no problems, but when i watch anything with the sound coming through the amp, the sub piocks up interference from the central heating boiler - theres a "drrrrr" noise when the pump switches on.

is there a way to eliminate this ?????

A mains conditioner might cure it.
But I would try to borrow one and test if it helps before buying it.

Do a search for "mains conditioner" here on the forum, you'll find info on diffirent brands.
