Sub not responding

Hi all ... any help or suggestions appreciated

I have the my jamo 5.1 speaker set up hooked up to the onko sr607.

I've had the speakers for about 3 years, but only had the amp a couple of weeks, and all seemed to be going well, but my sub doesnt seem to be working now.

power on blue light works fine suggesting the power to the sub is ok

auto power on works fine when volume over a certain level suggesting a signal is being recieved from the amp.

Is there anything else I could check before buying a new sub?

Thanks
Matt

How is the signal connected between the Subwoofer and the amp?

Is it high level (speaker wire) or low level (RCA-style connectors)?

The first thing to do is make sure the volume control on the sub is turned up. Seems pretty obvious, so obvious one could easily over look it.

Also make sure the crossover frequency is turn to the maximum value. It is easy to assume that these controls are set where they have alway been, but you need to confirm it.

Next, try replacing the cable connecting the amp and the Sub. It could be a problem with the cable.

Also, you can turn the Sub volume to max, disconnect the cable from the amp, and touch the positive lead of the cable with your finger. If the amp is receiving signal, you should hear a somewhat loud humming sound while you are touching the center lead of the (assumed) RCA connector. You body can act as a signal generator, but it only puts out a 50hz/60hz hum.

Also, check the Sub for any fuses. There may be a fuse justs for the signal. So, the mains power can still come on, but the speaker or the signal path has been cut off.

Just a few suggestions to start with.

Thanks for the quick reply!

yeah it's hooked up via RCA

dont have a replacement but will try this

gave this a go, and yeah I do recall hearing this hum previously when ever I have set it up ... nothing

I'll take off the back panel now and have a look

There is definitely (99% certain) a signal getting to the amp .... when on auto and at low volume the blue light stays off, but when the volume is raised it comes on

I'll check for fuses now

Thanks
