    Hello,

I'm not expecting to nail my problem right away, but you guys seem to know what your talking about, so here goes.

    I have the follwoing kit:

    Denon AVC-A1SR
    Arcam DV88 DVD
Pioneer LD (Running DTS Lasers only - BTW, if anyone heas some for sale - I alwasy have cash waiting)

    Speakers:

    Fronts - B&W CDM7SE
    Centre: Kef 200C
    Rears - B&W CDM7SE
    Sub - Rel Quake

    Question:

    1. What should be the first thing I do in order to acheive the FEEL factor rather than the BOOM BOOM factor of bass ???

    2. My levels are solid at 75db, but I cant get a steady reading for the SW channel.

    Thanks.

It sounds like you may have the gain turned up too high on the sub. I don't find SPL meters of much use when setting sub levels and prefer to do it by ear alone.

Turn it up until you can hear the bass from the sub and then turn it down a bit, plus a bit more.

what size room do you use?

and sorry if this sounds harsh but I doubt you'll achieve bass you can feel with a Quake.

Plenty of distance between sound stages, sounds nice, but I think my bass could be better.

Your quake may well be too small for the room to produce that sort of tactile bass, it may produce better results in a smaller room
