    Hello all,

I'm looking to spend anywhere up to £1000 on a new TV. LCD/LED/Plasma.. it doesn't really matter to me as long as it's got a great picture for watching films. The design of the set is also very important to me. I love the design of the Sony "monolith" sets so I'm looking for great design... black.. clean edges.. no stupid colour tinted plastics.. as near to borderless as possible. I'm really quite tempted by the Sony KDL-40HX703U but I believe that they've been discontinued for some time now which doesn't really seem to be getting reflected in the prices. Anyone have any good suggestions for me?

    Thank you in advance!

Thanks. It looks pretty good but I'm not sure about the "awful sound" and the LG interface looks pretty ugly (I know.. I care about the interface too). Is their anything to rival Sony's XMB system in looks?

You'll not get anything but "awful" sound from modern TV's especially one that thin! the interface is OK I know I have one (TV that is), I'm not really up on interface looks, the LE8900 is afaik the nearest to your OP as you'll get right now.

After going into Curry's today for a look around I found the Samsungs were really rather good. I saw a big LG (bigger than I need) which seemed to have a good picture too but I could only find one 40" which didn't look so great. Any idea how the LE8900 stands up against Samsung equivalents?

    Thanks
