My TV packed in (10 year old Sony "HD ready" that was cheap when I got it) and I am looking at getting a new TV. I know I won't get HDR at this price and that I've missed most of the clearance offers.

I'm not sure what's around, and am I bit lost.

Locally, I've seen a 49 inch LG UH770v for sub £500 but I am not sure if that's a good deal.

Lg is only worth it really if you want wide viewing angles.

Otherwise Panasonic and Hisense are better with the DX700/M5500..maybe even the Samsung KU6400. As you said already though, 2017 models are currently overpriced, but 2016 models are hard to find.

thanks for your advice.

i went with the lg, its a massive upgrade from what i had before and didnt break the bank, so i'm pleased
