Any tips for freeing filters stuck on camera/camcorder.
Know there are filter wrenches about but hoping to free it today to try new wide angle lens.

    TIA

run some ice around it to shrink it, assuming it is an internal thread as per normal cameras. Obviously don't soak the camera. Could use some freezer spray if you have access to it

Once you've run the ice round the filter put it (the ice not the filter) in a tall glass, put in another couple of lumps for good measure and cover with gin, top up the glass with schh (you know who) fling in a slice of lime and drink it nice and slowly.

Try an elastic band wound around the rim of the filter for extra purchase.

Had a stuck filter last night - full moon and thought i'd take a crack, then realised i had my CPL still on. Tried all the usual:

    - rubber band
    - leather strap (grip vice thingy)
    - facedown on rubber map (dosent work due to CPL)
    - finally put in freezer (in bag to reduce condensation)

Nothing worked, and was resigned to talking it to a camera shop, but gave a final gentle parting twist and it moved! bit more anticlockwise turning and it was off

Shock of my life - and thought i'd just nudge newbies like myself to not screw on your filters too hard! :lesson:
