Strong Playable PS3 Line-Up At TGS
Updated: 09:14, Wednesday September 05, 2007

A list of 36 PS3 games that are playable - yes, playable - at this year's Tokyo Game Show has been released by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan.

Sony confirm playable gamesA lot of the games are Japanese and some may not make it over to the UK.

The list shows that Sony are close to a big run of games for the system.

It includes playable versions of LocoRoco, LittleBigPlanet, Assassin's Creed and White Knight Story.

In the face of competition from Microsoft and Nintendo, the system has so far struggled to make an impact.

The full game list is as follows:

I hope we will see some demo's for some of these games, which are yet to come out. However, if I had to be a betting man, I reckon we may see demos of these games during TGS or a week after TGS has finished:

Fifa 2008
Need for Speed: Pro Street
Devil May Cry 4
Ratchet & Clank Future

I hope you are right about Ratchet & Clank Future, I'm really looking forward to it. With the processing power of the PS3 it will be interesting to see all the crazy weapons they come up with for the game.

An appearance of a PS3-exclusive title by Team Ico would be amazing.

In fact, it would'nt bother me if it wasn't exclusive. Anything ICO / SOTC related on PS3 would be special.

Is this expected or just pure speculation? I'd love to see something by the same developers, maybe a true sequel to ICO...?

Very unlikely I think. They are working on a project but it is still a long way away from completion.

Admittedly, I don't follow the ps3 releases in detail, but to say they are showing off 36 titles, to me, means 36 new, unreleased titles...

Am I that far out of the loop, aren't the above titles out or just about out?

Team ICO are Gods. Ico is my favourite PS2 game and I had a lot of PS2 titles so there was some stiff competition. It is a timeless classic. Can't wait for anything they release. Damn I'd pay full price for a HD version of Ico and SOTC on the PSN store.

I wondered that but it appears that some if not all of those games are yet to be released in Japan so i guess thats why they are there.

Just my own wish I'm afraid.

I've read nothing more than rumblings Team ICO are doing something for PS3, and have been for some time.

So no substance behind it, apologies if I got anyones hopes up.

Looking forward to hearing how Assassins Creed is looking on the PS3 as i think a lot of the preview code so far has been on the 360 :)

Maybe not in Japan though?

Anyhow, where's Pro Evo/Winning eleven on that list?

I have read elsewhere that, that list is just for the Sony booth, and that other devs booths may well have more playable PS3 games...

Well it's something I'm wishing for too, and I'm sure they are up to something...

I am wishing for it too.

(I am sure Fumito Ueda has confirmed they are working on something for the PS3. Though it will be some time off - I am confident it will be worth the wait...)

I didn't see UT3 in that list. Isn't it supposed to be out in the next month or so?

I suspect it may not be released in Japan at the same time or possibly not at all. FPS games are not really popular over there. It's also possible Epic is not going to be attending TGS. It's not really the type of game that would be showcased at a Japanese game show.

Even so, a game as technically advanced as UT3 should be on show just to wow the punters into seeing how good the PS3 really can be.

Just like E3 and Leipzig are greared towards the western market the Tokyo Game Show is geared towards the Japanese market which doesn't have a strong affinity to FPS games so TGS is not an ideal showcase for a game like that.
