I've been recommended moniter audio s6's as fronts and s1's as rears by sevenoaks which I am demo-ing next week.Question is ,is this the right way to go or sshould I be looking at bi,tri, dipoles considering i want a good sacd/dvda system as well as films? The 2 amps I will be trying are pioneerax5i and denon 3805.

I would stick with the s1's, monopole will be much better for dvd-a/sacd.
Or if MA have switchable monopole/di-poles like the B&W DS6 S3 they might a good option for a multi-channel music/films system.

The thing to ask yourself is how often you will listen to SACDs vs watching movies. By my reckoning (read sweeping generalisation) there are a handful of SACDs worth buying, and 1000's of DVDs, don't think there's really any competition there:D

That said, I use monopoles as my rears in my setup: in a larger room I would go for monopoles anyway, in a small room the more "diffuse" effect of bi/di/tripoles may be more suitable (I'm thinking of movies here).

It won't imho...SACD/DVD-A would already be much bigger if people were screaming for multi-channel music. It's mainly a gimmick, personally I think 2 channel is much better (though I like some house music in 5.1)

I would stick to the S1 in rears....

And for MAs I would listen to Marantz, better match, take a look at the new SR7500/8500

I prefered (sound only, not features) the SR7400 to the AVR3805...

SACD works best through identical speakers so S1 front and back and a decent sub or the radius range 90 for all speakers and decent sub.
