Streaming NTSC MPEGS to PAL Xbox 360

Hi Folks,

I live in the UK and have an Xbox 360 which I use for DVD movie playback, (as well as games of course)!.
I lived in the US for 4 year before moving back to the UK so I have a healthy collection of US DVD movies, as well as UK ones.
I know that my PAL 360 will not play the Region 1 NTSC movies that I have. What I was wondering is, rather than buying a multi-region DVD player, could I make a region free copy of the DVD on a Media Center PC (I have the software to do this) and then stream this NTSC movie to my 360 (my TV plays back NTSC signals just fine)?
I am not sure if this would work straight from the DVD drive of the PC, but I am thinking it should work if I convert the DVD to an MPEG and stream that from the hard drive of the PC??

Thanks for any feedback you folks can offer!

p.s. the alternative would be for me to sell all of my US bought DVD movies and buy the UK equivilents, which would be a P in the A...
