Streaming 720/1080p

Is it possible to stream 720p or 1080p to the iPad 4? I've tried using numerous apps but every single one seems to freeze every 10seconds or so on anything other than SD material.

My iPhone 4 seems to manage it sometimes but other times it will fail and the iPad 4 seems to be the same :( Considering the chip in the pad I'd have thought it could at least manage 720p or am I doing something wrong?

If not is there a program I can install that will transcode the files from the 720/1080 to a lower quality that will not buffer. Not fused about HD quality as it's for my 5year old mainly I just dont want to have to covert them all on my pc to a new format permanently as my blu ray player will play them fine.

Plex is your friend on this one!

The Server element will work on PC now, and there's an iOS App for the iPad. It transcodes on the fly and is very effective. Even works outside of your home if you set it up accordingly. Obviously need a data connection for that though.

It is powerful enough to transcode full bitrates BluRay MKV rips no problem, depending on PC spec I guess.

I shall download it now and give it a go.
