If I was to purchase an Heed Obelisk Si, Power Source, and External DAC, what streaming devise match do you recommend for a computer based system?

A lot of streaming devices already have DACs onboard. It would help to know what software/file formats you are using on the PC and do you want direct connect, wireless or ethernet connection between PC and hifi? Budget?

I have been away for a while. I plan to use only FLAC files. I will probably do an Ethernet connection, but I would appreciate advice on direct connect and wireless. My budget is between £500-750. Thanks for your help.

There is no difference in sound quality between ethernet or wireless if they are both delivering data packets without interruption, it is more to do with your installation and whether the wireless signal works well or whether ethernet is easy to do. Audio at all resolutions needs very low bandwidth (typically 10Mbps is ample) in the scheme of the things. Homeplugs are a good solution if hard wiring or wireless is an issue.

    Other streamers are:
    SimpleAudio http://simpleaudio.co.uk/
    Cocktail Audio X10
    Denon DNP-720AE
    Pioneer N50
Apple Airport Express - needs tweaks to stream flac
    Raspberry Pi with Squeezeplug
any low power PC with a wide choice of software available - can be run headless

A lot will depend on how you want to control all of this - tablet/smartphone/PC/MAC. Most dedicated streamers have a poor graphical interface on the box so tablets are a better method of controlling your streaming.
