K I'm really a newb to this stuff, so basically, i set up my dg820, with 5.1, speakers being SS-B1000 rears, Sony SS-F6000 mains, and Sony SS-CN5000 center, sounds great, but when turned to loud volumes, it goes into protection mode, or even at 45 sometimes. Basically I heard 2 versions, one power supple is insufficient, Im basically using a plug that like, adds 4 other blocks to a socket, with a surge protector plugged into that, holding my LCD TV ps3, and the surround is connected via the plug hub thing. Someone told me it could be this, or it could be i need, banana plugs? If its the plug issue, will a buying a power bar solve this instead of using that plug hub thing? or would it be the same scenario, not sure if power bars give more voltage and what not.

Also, for speaker settings, I got them all set to small, and my front crossover is set at 80 as i dont have a sub and want them to output abit of base. Not sure if this is relevant or not.

Ok , setting to small with a crossover of 80 is what you do when you DO have a sub.

No sub , then the speakers should all be set to large , see here ,

Set Your Speakers to Small in Your Receiver Setup

Setting a crossover of 80 with no sub connected means your throwing away all your LFE , its all being routed to the Sub connector but theres no sub ...if you see what I mean.

I doubt thats whats causing your protection mode problems though , but try it out anyway just to make sure.

After that , any chance of posting a picture of your power socket setup, its sounds strange enough that it may just be the cause.

Basically its like a 6 socket hug, and the thing is on the back of the square hub, theres only 1 plug, so basically its only using 1 of the 2 outlets to power 6 more. Would it be better to buy a power bar, have it use one outlet and put the surround sound within its own on the second? Or would that make no difference.

Sorry for the glare ><

That does not look good and is most likely your issue , get a proper power strip with enough sockets for your equipment and it will most likely solve the problem.

It will undoubtedly be safer into the bargain, I have some ( safety ) guys at work here who would faint if they saw that photo :D

Lmao, will do dude, thanks again for the help and fast response.
hi there, i have to concour with andy i think your problem is the plug arrangment, a reasonable 6 block with surge protection is not that expensive and hopefully will solve your problems , and i would think looking at your pic be so much safer.....shame to loose your kit for £30.....peace out....steve...
