STRDB940 or AX620 for £150????

    Okay, I need some advice from you experts on this one...

    I've been offered (second-hand) either a Yamaha DSP-AX620 or a Sony STRDB940, each for £150. Both are in good condition, have little use and are working well.

    Not bothered at all about the RDS bit of the Sony, and I will use the pre-out option from the amp for the main speakers to be powered by my valve hi-fi amp. So I'm really only worried about the quality of DD/DTS decoding and quality of amplification to centre and rears.

    I presently use a DSP-E492 with the DD decoding being done by the onboard decoder of the LG-3350E DVD player.

    Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Personally I preferred the acoustics of the Yam. I also found the Sony to be a pig to set up. My brother auditioned both and we went for the Yam.

    I'll sell you my Yam 620 for £100 - 3 months old, boxed with manual.

    Thanks for the offer - not sure I'm close enough to Berkshire to make it worth while! Thanks anyway...
