I’ve just taken delivery of the 2 disc version of Kwai and it has a very strange fault. I wonder if anyone else has come across it.

At the end of chapter 18 (1:18:04) there is a very big jump and the counters are reset to chapter 1 and elapsed time of 0:00:00. You cannot use previous chapter to jump backwards into chapter 18, and if you rewind the films starts playing from the beginning.

    Any ideas?

I may be wrong, but i would guess that is where the layer change is,on the dual layer disc.

I wondered that, but it is a much bigger jump than a normal layer change. And layer changes don't reset the counters and disallow jumping backwards, do they?

    Regards,

    Cliff

    Cliff,
This is NOT a problem with the disc, its how the disc was coded by the manufacturer's. It looks as if the coding was done in two seperate parts thus the time on the DVD player is reset back to zero when the first part ends and the second part starts.
    Regards,
    Paul

This would mean that all copies of this title have the same problem. But nobody else has confirmed it yet.

    Regards,

    Cliff

I thought I had just confirmed it!? Like I said, thats the way the disc was coded. Do a search on Google and you will see plenty of other folks who have exactly the same "problem".
    Regards,
    Paul
