Ok so I have a Sony STR-DH820 and a Panasonic EX750B with a Panasonic UB400 blu ray. Unfortunately I can't afford to replace my current 7.1 for an atmos AV. So my question is do I just stick with the 4 rear surrounds I have or do I try having 2 front heights (dolby z) will it help with the atmospherics? Or am I better to leave it.

    Thanks in advance

    Pete

I'd suggest you stick with the back surrunds rather than sacrificing them for front heights. You'd only be able to utilise the heights in conjunction with upmixing modes that create pseudo channels for them with your receiver, but back speakers will portray discrete audio if playing 7.1 sources. I'd maybe sacrifice them in order to get Atmos, but I'd not rate Pro Logic iiz as being worth the sacrifice.
