I dont suppose I will get a lot of response to this but I just watched "Storytelling", Tod Solondz' follow up to "Welcome to the Dollhouse" and "Happiness"

It is a very good film, not as good as Happiness but still quality viewing. It was quite Woody Allen like and reminded me a little of Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Anyway, if I this thread gets more than 30 views I will eat my wifes cat
    :D

Man, this thread has been ruined. What wit, though.

I liked Happiness, especially the Philip Seymour Hoffman side of things - that was great, I felt that some of the other stories were less well developed. Also, one of the best one line ending's I've seen.

Is Storytelling available now, I haven't seen it advertised. I'd like to see some of his other work, to see if he has much range in his films, as Happiness sugested to me that he might be quite limited in what he makes.

Well it must be time for me to eat hairy, woops I mean humble pie.
Not a bad taste though, took about 15 minutes to finish:p

    Eli

Yes its out now on region 2 at 14.99. It is one of those titles that will be reduced to 8.99 in a month so you might wish to hang on.

The region 1 is out soon and could be worth waiting for as reg 2 has only a trailer.

I really liked Happiness and would put it in my favourite 30 or 40 films. Welcome to the Dollhouse was pretty good but not great in my opinion.

    HI,

I rented "Storytelling" on DVD when it came out about 4 weeks ago. I had seen "Happiness" before, so I kinda knew what to expect.

I have to say that "Storytelling" isn't quite as good as I had hoped. It's not a bad film, by any sense of the word, but just... I guess, just not as good as Solondz's other movies.

The Belle And Sebastian music score though, is superb. Very jaunty and singalongy, if you know what I mean. I have to get this on CD soon.

I don't know if the movie would improve with further viewings, but I didn't like the ending. It started off as a wondefully twisted black comedy, andthen kinda went wayyyyyyy off at a tangent.

Despite that, I still quite enjoyed it, and would recommend it, for those of you who want something intelligent and different to watch. However, one quick word of warning: it's not your normal, run-of-the-mill comedy! So don't go expecting laugh-out-loud style humour, as you won't (or are very unlikely) to find it.
