BBC seem to be hiding this great comedy program, no ads I have seen.

I only have seem one before and that was the last of a series anyway last night by chance I had Coast on and what should follow it but Still Game.
Still Game is a comedy which I would place somewhere between Rab C Nesbit and Father Ted. Its about middle age people not behaving as you would expect them to.
I found the program far funnier than the out put of Ricky Gevais and Catharine Tate.

Thankfully un-like last series I have not caught the last one as in the listings it shows it is on next week.

So if you want to try it it is on BBC2 at 10pm on Fridays. :smashin:

    Indeed!

This is a very funny program.

Last weeks episode with the guys becoming hospital radio DJ's was really funny.

Shame its promoted so badly by the beeb - If I hadn't looked in a listings mag, I would have missed it completely.

BTW - someone told me that Rab C. Nesbitt is coming back to TV.

Does anyone know if that's true?

It truly is a brilliant show, you can usually pick up the previous series on DVD quite cheap!!

There are some absolute classics in the earlier series.

It's hugely popular in Scotland where it's shown on BBC1.

The last one I saw was when one of the blokes had a blind date with a right minger, warts and all, including a very gruf voice, was I sick when I found it was the last in the series.

I will have to look for the box set of it.

How many series has there been of it?

    ah yes, remember that episode.

I THINK, the current series that the beeb are showing is the 4th??

One of my favourite episodes involves Pete the jakey and catching a fox, Hilarious!

The Gambling episode was also a howler!

This is indeed series 4. Series 1&2 are the best. If you can find them on DVD well worth tracking down.

The two main characters (Jack and Victor) were originally in a sketch show called Chewing the Fat which has lots of similar humour, again worth tracking down on DVD.

    RDB :)

Yep, this has been a major success in Scotland since series 1. A very funny programme indeed.
Navid, the shop owner, is the one of the funniest characters from any sitcom - EVER!
The accents aren't too strong so you soft southern nancy boys should be able to keep up ok
Apparently, there will be both a Christmas & New Year special this year.
As has been mentioned above, Jack & Victor were both originally part of a sketch show called 'Chewin' The Fat'. Again, there are some fabulous characters in this show (especially would be actor Ronald Villiers - very very funny!)
I think there were 4 series of 'Chewin' The Fat' and you can usually pick up each DVD for around £5 (FOPP in Edinburgh used to sell them this cheap anyway)
There may also be a box set available...

Ever heard of [TEXT] ? ;)

Don't have to use it for Still Game, but must confess, I always had to watch Rab C. Nesbitt with the TEXT on!

    Oooh Isa !
Did you see her trying to come over all sexy with Davie the bus driver (take a bow Mr Robbie Coltrane) in last weeks episode?
    How funny was that?
''Would you like to go for a wee cup of tea and maybe a sausage roll....mmmm''

Navid - definately one of the funniest sit-com characters in a long time. The episode a couple of weeks ago where he was in hospital having problems pee-ing had me in complete stiches.

    More please!

Still game is the best comedy since city lights oronly fools.

Whats even better is just how well the characters reflect local scottish folk.
everyone knows a clansman, your local scheme pub.
everyone knows an isa - a fabulous charactar that facilitates some of the best one liners by winston, proabaly the best character with his dry caustic wit.

"added on drivel" - was a topper of line he used on isa - class.
too many good episodes to pick one, in fact i'd say that so far there havent been any poor episodes as such, everyone has been quality.

Navid is also certainly in the running for being in the all time graetest list of comedy charaters, probably why this series hes getting more and more episode time.

shame its not recieved as much recogniton as some of the pish thats inflicted upon us, like the office or that local people pish.
hopefully with it going uk wide now it will.

by the way, catch the live show - its simply so bloody hilarous - i have them on dvd and was lucky enough to be there too.
also makes hogamny, a good replacement for ricky fulton having still game/chewin fat with only an excuse.

Friday night's episode had me on the floor crying... some real gems in it - especially the comment about Tom's bride to be in the Library, and Navid's dexterity on the keyboard when he realised he no longer wanted to be be part of the Spire empire.

Why on earth isn't this on BBC1?

Just ordered the 4 series + the Chewin the Fat box set from play.com.

I used to buy the early series on dvd from fop and send it down to my brother in England.

My nephews can't get enough of this hilarious show, good to see it going out nationally.

I wonder if anyone knows if it is available on region one dvd, my uncle in Canada would love this show.

A good sketch show from the same guys is Chewing The Fat, Jack and Victor originated from some great sketches on this, well worth seeking out

Navids wife has always been out of shot usually by a stratigically place box or something similar. Their dialogue is in their ethnic language and is sometimes very close to the bone.
I missed last nights eposode so i'll have to pick up Tuesdays repeat as it's sounds a belter.

you lot might want to have a look at the new comedy on channel 4 friday at 9.30 pm called "meet the magoons" the actor that plays navid is in it and its about a curry house in Glasgow and the humour should be akin to still game hopefuly

22:30 on BBC Scotland tonight. If you have Sky you can find it on the regional BBC channels.

Still Game is the best thing on TV at the minute. Meet The Magoons wasn't as good as the trailers made it look even though they both have actor Sanjeev Kohli (Navid) in them.
