Steering wheel mount (not seat)

Hi all,

Whilst I'm waiting for my PSN points for GT5 Prologue to arrive, I'm getting the itch to treat myself to the G25 wheel.

I haven't got the room in the lounge for a full on playseat setup (God knows I wish I did and that the missus would allow it...) but I would want something to mount the wheel and gear-shift on to.

Does anybody know of a mount similar to the one on the front of the playseat that can be setup but will still allow me to sit on the sofa/armchair.

Any info much appreciated - especially before I talk myself out of getting the wheel! :D

Cheers

I have the same wheel and don't have the space for a full playseat set up, so I use the ironing board, it's adjustable and stable.. Sounds mad but it really is ideal.

Hi Steve

I'm in exactly the same boat as you. I came across this the other day:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Driving-Sta...ef=pd_sim_vg_h_?ie=UTF8&qid=1199107459&sr=8-1

I'm still deliberating whether it's worth the investment. I am loving GT5P though and I think playing with the G25 would just add to the awesomeness!

Let me know what you think, be interested to know if anyone has found a better mounting solution.

It looks just the job. I wonder how stable it is when it comes to giving the wheel some grunt?

I'm close to giving into temptation and ordering the G25.

Hope I don't regret it if I do. How well does it work with F1?

yeah I have F1 as well. Not even sure if FF is enabled in this either.

Primarily for GT5 but if I can give F1 a new lease of life this will make the decision even easier. As per my original post, I just need to get the thing secure whilst I sit on the sofa.

I'm also wanting the G25 for use mainly with GT5. Hopefully it'll make me play DiRT and F1 more too.

The cost does scare me but I am considering ordering tomorrow. A usable mount does interest me, either one I use while sitting on my sofa or which can be used with my X-Rocker seat.

Yes F1 and Dirt both have FF enabled.
The GT5 is expensive but worth every penny.
Also try GTR2 on the pc its amazing with the wheel. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GC-016-LG

So we've had an ironing board as a suggestion for a mount (not the first time I've heard of someone using this) and the one on Amazon.

What are other people without Playseats etc doing with wheels in their lounges?

I'm using my sons high chair :) works surprisingly well and I don't get stick for leaving it cluttering up the place because it is there all the time anyway

If I get a chance later tonight I will post a picture, my wife just laughs at me when I play but it works so I am happy.

I only have a very cheap driving force ex though, is the force feedback on wheels like the G25 a lot smoother than the cheap wheels as it feels a bit like cogs moving against each other on mine

i got the g25 which is great but playing gt5 with this wheel on your lap is a big no no ! , any other suggestions on a Steering wheel mount that can handle the weight , force feedback and room for the gearstick

You should see my living room.

I purchased the G25 at Best Buy, it was $75.00 off price because someone had returned it. WHoo Hooo. It is the coolest thing I have ever owned. If you're thinking about buying one, you should. Every function works with Need for Speed Pro Street (FYI). FF feedback is the nicest I've felt.

I'm desperately trying to find a better way to mount mine. I have a small kitchen table in the middle of my living room and the coffee table is sitting beside it so I can mount the shifter to it. It's pretty crazy.

I thought about bolting it to a TV tray, and then modify that to fit my needs.

I use LapStand with my G25. It's small enough to hide behind the couch when I'm not racing and it is the most stable wheel mount I've used.

I've got a G25 and am desperately looking for something more comfortable than the coffee side table I am using at the moment - give it 20 mins of racing GT5 and my back is killing. I really like the wheel stand pro but just slightly put off by the price.

[email protected] - absolutely fantastic :D
